5.6 Tactile paving

Platform edge (on street) warning surface

These are used as warning surfaces at all on-street platforms. The surface is normally buff-coloured, but can be any colour (other than red) which constrasts with the surrounding surface.

A single tile measuring 400mm square with flat-topped elongated domes set in evenly spaced rows, each dome is 150mm by 83mm at the base and raised 6mm, plus or minus 0.5mm. The long side of the dome is parallel to the direction of travel along platform and 90 degrees to the direction to the tram. The gap between rows of domes is 50mm in each direction, starting 25mm in from the edge of the tile.
