5.24 Timber tapping rail for long cane users

4 drawings showing details of tapping rail. First drawing shows a perspective of the tapping rail fixed to a support post that has been driven into the ground. The second is an elevation showing that one length of the 100mm minimum diameter horizontal tapping rail has been joined to the next by a half -lap joint at the point where it is fixed to a vertical support post to raise the rail off the ground by 300mm. The joint has been recessed to allow the head of the round support post to fit into the round tapping rail and fastened using a galvanised strip with galvanised nails. The third diagram is a detail of the half-lap joint and the fourth a section through the post and rail showing the post driven into the ground to a depth of about 600mm.
