5.24 Diagram for path specifications

drawing of a path showing the following features from the top downwards - turns should be on level ground with splayed or rounded corners to ease progress in wheelchairs. Maximum slope across path 2.5 percent (1 in 40). 900mm level sections necessary at 10m intervals along ramps steeper than 5 percent (1 in 20). Maximum slope in direction of travel (1 in 20). Surface texture material should be firm, fixed, non-slip and textured. On narrow footpaths a passing place should be provided every 30m. It should be 1800mm wide and at least 1200mm long. Steps should be avoided. Path should be 1200mm wide (minimum). Railings should be provided adjacent to slopes and other dangerous areas.
