Enforcement

If abuse of the parking provisions for disabled people is to be controlled, enforcement of regulations is essential. The ability to enforce at law is dependent upon the location of the parking space and whether or not it has been designated by a parking place order as reserved for Blue Badge holders. The power to enforce is as follows:

As an aid to deterring abuse of spaces designated for Blue Badge holders, commercially produced space reservation devices, incorporating visual and audible warnings, are available. In tests, these warning devices have reduced abuse by up to 90%.
