8.5.12 Fixtures, fittings and equipment

The installation of fixtures, fittings and equipment, as well as the layout of loose furniture should take into account possible use by people with disabilities.

Shelving, where possible, should be reachable from standing or seated height. Counters and tables should allow knee room for wheelchair users. Any counter or servery should have a lowered section for use from a seated position.

On long routes, seating should be provided at intervals with space for a wheelchair alongside.

Layouts of tables, chairs etc should allow space for a wheelchair to manoeuvre.
