All schools should have a medical room for the treatment and care of pupils and for use by visiting medical staff. This room should be sited to allow for close supervision of a sick pupil by a member of staff and it is therefore usually located next to the administrative accommodation. It should have a washbasin and be near a toilet.
Larger schools catering for larger numbers of disabled pupils with differing needs will, however, need more specialist and extensive provision.
