The involvement of the parents of disabled pupils is a vital component of a successful educational experience. Parents may assist in the school from time to time and may also visit the school to work with the staff on their child's particular difficulty. The growth of these mutually beneficial relationships between school and parents can be encouraged if space is provided for social purposes, for small meetings and for occasional work with pupil, parent and teacher or therapist.
