Many schools let out rooms and facilities at evenings and weekends to non-educational and community bodies. This is frequently an important income stream and a strong link with the local area.
From October 2004, schools, in the provision of non-educational services to
the public, will have to take reasonable steps to remove, alter or provide reasonable
means of avoiding physical features that make it impossible or unreasonably
difficult for disabled people to access the service.
