6.5 Principal entrance doors

• at least 925mm clear opening of one leaf (800mm minimum)
  
• 300mm unobstructed space to side of leading edge
  
• level landings (avoid single steps)
  
• flush threshold
  
• vision panel to give minimum zone of visibility from 900mm to 1500mm from floor level
  
• door closers to have minimum practicable opening pressure
  
• door handles to be easily usable and clearly distinguishable from door
  
• kick-plate recommended (depth 400mm)
  
• avoid creating hazard/dead-end by hinge-opening door.

Non automatic doors

Double doors

at least one of the pair should provide the minimum clear opening width. Doors across circualtion routes should have visibility glazing.
