6.2 Internal ramps

The basic requirements as for external ramps apply. In addition:

• a short-rise powered lifting platform can be considered as a complement to steps instead of a ramp (see 6.7 Lifts)
  
• the length of internal ramps between landings should be as short as possible. A deep-pile carpet surface reduces the length up which wheelchair users can propel themselves
  
• the surface of short ramps should be colour/tonally distinguished from the adjoining flooring.
