6.17 Bedroom for wheelchair user

plan of bedroom for wheelchair user. The entrance door is 825mm minimum clear opening with 300mm minimum at the side of the leading edge to be able to open the door. The width where the door opens into the room is 1200mm between side walls. On the right hand side going into the bedroom is the entrance to the bathroom shown with a sliding door that gives an 825mm minimum clear opening width. The layout inside the bathroom shows a washbasin, toilet and a level access variable height shower with grab rails. The bathroom measures 2000mm by 2400mm. On the left hand side a wardrobe is recessed into the side wall so as to maintain the 1200mm wide corridor to the bed area. The layout of the bed area shows two alternatives to create a 1500mm turning circle for a wheelchair user by positioning the partially recessed dressing table either immediately to the left and leaving a space further in that allows turning, or reversing this so that the turning space is at the beginning of the area and the furniture further in. Two single beds are shown on the right hand side. The bed area measures 3600mm by 3500mm.
