6.10 Changing facilities

Contents

Accessible changing rooms should be provided at swimming pools and other recreational buildings. Suitable provision should be made for performers in theatres and other performance venues.

The route to and from a changing room should be accessible, kept free from obstacles, well lit and clearly signed.

The provision of manoeuvring space for a wheelchair, for transfer onto a seat, and the provision of seats, grab rails, taps, shower heads, mirrors and clothes hooks mounted at suitable heights, are all critical issues. Main features and controls must be easy to see, reach and use. A mobile shower chair should be provided.
